The Southwest Quadrant is an interesting, friendly neighbourhood that's only a little newer than Olde Towne.

Housing prices are slightly more affordable here than in Olde Towne proper, but the amenities of King Street are still within walking distance. Like everywhere else in Alexandria, those costs are going up as the years go by.

The Freedmen's Cemetery is situated within this small area.

The Nannie J. Lee Centre is also within this neighbourhood. Visitors can take a stroll down to Jones Point. Children love the bragging rights they get from walking across the Wilson Memorial Bridge into D.C. then Maryland.

The cherry trees along South Pitt street in front of the Saint Asaph Square condominiums and to the rear of the Monticello-Lee apartments are a lovely alternative to the Jefferson Basin.
